About the Game
Antarctic Metaverse is an educational science fiction video game set on the Antarctic continent in the year 2035.
In this futuristic world, the effects of climate change are compounded by the catastrophic consequences caused by human pollution: Antarctic species do their best to adapt and avoid their own extinction.
The game invites you to explore seven Antarctic ecosystems, take samples of native species, collect scientific records and detect contamination of human origin, to bring everything to the International Antarctic Metaverse Base, where the memories of Antarctic science are stored.
Metaverso Antarctic proposes a futuristic and open narrative universe, which unfolds before the player, encouraging him to build his own reflections on nature, ecology and respect for all living beings in times of climate change.
Metaverso Antártico is a video game created and produced by [XR-LABS] Transdisciplinary Laboratory of Virtual Reality and Video Games of the University of Chile. The first version of the game was created in Spanish and was released for free download on May 31, 2024 in Santiago, Chile.
On the occasion of the XI Scar open science conference, the world's premier Antarctic science meetings, being held in Pucón, Chile, we created an English demonstration version. This English demonstration version will be presented by Dr. Victor Fajnzylber, author and project director, on Thursday, August 22, at 14:55, with the title "Antarctic Metaverse: Depicting Antarctic research and climate change through a videogame and a virtual world"(427), at the SCAR 2024 conference: https://www.scar2024.org/oral-presentations/
We are currently looking for partners interested in co-producing new versions of the game, in English, French or Portuguese, in solitaire, multiplayer or a virtual reality version.
